Photo Shoot

Lilly and I decided to have a photo shoot today...

I may not be the best photographer, but I actually got a smile! (First time to actually catch one). By the way, the yellow blanket Lilly is laying on is the quilt my grandma made me when I was born.

2 Months Old

Lilly turned 2 months old last week! It's already going so fast! I was looking at pictures from when we first brought her home and she doesn't even look like the same baby. She is growing so much. At her doctor's appointment last week, she weighed 11 lbs (she was 7 lbs 5 oz at birth) and had grown an inch. Today, I thought I'd just try a 3 month outfit and it fit!

Here are some pictures from the past couple of weeks. Enjoy!

It's been a long, hard day...

My favorite time of the day...so relaxing!

My Aunt Beth took this picture of me!

My great-aunt Peg gave me this towell....it makes coming out of the tub so much warmer!

Hangin' with Duncan

We had a bit of a daycare fiasco a couple of weeks ago. We took her to a place that was recommended to us and she went for 3 days. On the 3rd night, I decided to look at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services website where they list child care center inspections and list any violations they have. Well.....I was horrified at the violations our center had! They weren't silly ones like "only 5 bandaides were in the first aid kit instead of the required 10". Here are some of the ones I found (taken from the TDFPS website):

- In the infant room, a 2 month old child was observed to be wrapped in a blanket, that was also placed underneath his head. The blanket was observed to be wrinkled up around his face where his nose was buried in the blanket.

- In the infant room, a 2 month old child was observed to have a security bear blanket, (a small blanket that has the attached bear) up near his face.

- A child was not adequately supervised when he went down the slide of the larger swimming pool. The child was unable to get out of the pool on his own and had to be pulled out by the lifeguard. The water was 4 Ft. deep and the child measured 3 Ft. 4 Inches. None of the staff were aware that this happened until it was reported by children on the bus going home.

- I observed that a caregiver was laying on the floor and appeared to be sleeping during naptime for the children. This was in the room of 12-16 month olds. Corrected at inspection when the caregiver was advised that she needed to be observing the children and not laying down.

- I observed a 4 month old child in a crib with the side down.

-I observed a 4 month old child sleeping on his stomach. This infant is not able to roll over from any direction.

- I observed a 12 month child with a blanket completely covering her head. Corrected at inspection when the blanket was removed from the child's head.

-Supervision is not adequate in the room where the 18 to 24 month old children are in that one child bit other children at lest 32 times.

- The director failed to conduct a check of the children when exiting the van from afterschool pick up, thus leaving a 7 year old child unattended in the van for approximately 45 minutes. The child was not noticed missing until the parent arrived to pick the child up and was unable to locate the child.

- An infant was observed to have a blanket over his head.

- One employee did not have a criminal history check.

And the violoations above were only the ones from the past 6 months....there were pages of them!! Needless to say, Lilly was not going back to this center. Luckily, my sister Beth was here the night I found all this and was going to keep her at home the next day (which was Friday). The next week, Beth's sister-in-law (Ty's sister) kept Lilly while Chris finished his last week of classes. This week and next week, Lilly is attending "Daddy Day Care." Chris is finished with classes so he's staying home with her. We found a wonderful lady to keep her in her home starting in January. I learned my lesson....since she is registered with the state, I checked her on the TDFPS website and she had one silly violation for something to do with record keeping. So the moral of the story is.....RESEARCH YOUR DAYCARE...DON'T JUST TRUST YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS!!!!

We've had a great week. Lilly is doing very well with Daddy and I love coming home to her after school! Our favorite time is bath time...the only problem is--she gets mad when I take her out!

First Thanksgiving and First Snow

Here are some pictures of Lilly's first Thanksgiving as well as her first snow. Abilene got 3 inches of snow...just 45 minutes down the highway, Sweetwater got 7 inches. What a nice suprise for a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm sure Lilly enjoyed her first Thanksgiving....she was very polite and slept through the meal so Mommy and Daddy could actually eat. Then she enjoyed her own Thanksgiving feast....a nice bottle. :)

Turning to some not so good news, I have to return to work on Tuesday. I am very much not looking forward to it...tears have fallen. Lilly gets her shots on Monday so that we will be cleared for day care. She'll only go to day care for 2 weeks until Chris is done with classes for the semester. I miss my kiddos at school and am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, but I am very much not looking forward to leaving my baby girl. Poor Mommy!

A Day in the Life of Lilly

I thought they said burping was un-ladylike...

Getting ready for church:

After a really poopy diaper, the bathtub was the only way to go:

A-Hunting We Will Go

Lilly received a package from her Grandpa Ciardi (Zeke) with a cute little note with a picture of a deer on it. It read:

Dear Lilly,

Do you know what Saturday is? Opening Day! I am sure you don't have a thing to wear for the occasion so I sent you a little something. Enjoy!

Love,
Papa Ciardi

Here's a few pictures of Lilly modeling her new outfit:

Like Mother, Like Daughter

My dad sent this to me in an e-mail...

Sorry it's been so long since I posted! I've been slightly distracted! Lilly is doing great! She's definately putting on weight and has become very interested in things/people around her. She especially likes lights. Today we read Eric Carle's book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See?" and I could definately tell she loved it. I'm sure we have a literary genius on our hands. :) Since she's been born, we've made a trip to Abilene to meet all her new Abilene friends and see all my family and then her Grandma Dowdle (Chris' mom) came last weekend to meet Miss Lilly. Needless to say, she's already very spoiled. Enjoy some new pictures!
